Second Trailer for Sofia Coppola’s ‘A Very Murray Christmas’ Musical

“Featuring all the Season’s classic hits… by all the biggest Stars!” Netflix is really having fun with this one. Another amusing trailer has debuted for the upcoming holiday special musical extravaganza A Very Murray Christmas, which is actually some kind of film directed by Sofia Coppola premiering on Netflix this weekend. We already posted the first trailer for this Netflix special last month, but this second one plays with the holiday musical concept even more. Bill Murray stars along with Paul Shaffer, Michael Cera, George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Rashida Jones, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Chris Rock. I just hope there’s actually a story to this, and not just a bunch of songs. We’ll find out soon enough. Enjoy!

Here’s the second official trailer for Sofia Coppola’s A Very Murray Christmas, direct from Netflix:

Watch: Incredible Virtual Reality Sci-Fi Short Film ‘Uncanny Valley’

“I remember the first time I tried it… I thought to myself: ‘Wow. I’m never going to be bored again.'” If you’re into the virtual reality craze, you must see this fascinating new short. It’s called Uncanny Valley, which is a reference to the point at which you feel uneasy noticing that a CGI creation isn’t really real, from Argentinian director Federico Heller. It explores a future where VR junkies have become so addicted to the virtual worlds, they truly have become junkies, jacking in most of the day. There’s some great VFX in this, and strong world-building, with a major transition to sci-fi action in the second half. Beware of VR addicts.

Original description from Vimeo: In the slums of the future, virtual reality junkies satisfy their violent impulses in online entertainment. An expert player discovers that the line between games and reality is starting to fade away. 3DAR’s latest short film explores the frightening potential of our next technological …

John Waters Reveals His Always-Eclectic List of Top 10 Films of 2015

It’s time! With the end of the year approaching, everyone reveals their own Top 10 best of the year list. One of our favorites to kick off this time is filmmaker John Waters’ personal picks for his Top 10 favorite films from this year. In 2015, Waters has picked yet another eclectic mix of films, including Mad Max: Fury Road, Tangerine, Xavier Dolan’s Tom at the Farm, Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella (really!), and The Diary of a Teenage Girl, among some other oddball picks. A few years back his top film was Spring Breakers, and last year it was Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars. I always like hearing about Waters’ favorites because he has such unique tastes and his comments are fun to read. I’m glad he loved Mad Max as much as everyone else.

Waters includes a short one/two-sentence explanation with each pick, so head to ArtForum to read all of his thoughts on his Top 10 of 2015. I’ve included …

Tom Hiddleston is Hank Williams in ‘I Saw the Light’ Official Trailer

“Boy, I’m a professional at making a mess of things.” Sony Pictures Classics has unveiled an official trailer for I Saw the Light, the upcoming film starring Tom Hiddleston as legendary country singer Hank Williams. Despite Tom Hiddleston’s performance, the film received fairly dismal reviews after premiering at TIFF a few months ago (read Marco’s review). Word is the film was re-cut and they pushed back the release a few months for them to figure out a new strategy. Now we get our first glimpse and it doesn’t look that promising – but it depends on how much you like country music. In addition to Hiddleston, the cast includes Elizabeth Olsen, David Krumholtz, Bradley Whitford and Cherry Jones. Give it a watch below.

Here’s the first official trailer for Marc Abraham’s I Saw the Light, found on YouTube:

Full International Trailer for ‘Zoolander 2’ Featuring Penélope Cruz

“What do you know about fashion?!” Paramount has debuted a new international trailer with tons of extra footage for the comedy sequel Zoolander 2, starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. We all just saw the full-length US trailer a few weeks ago, so it’s good to follow up with even more footage and some of the best reveals from that trailer (including Will Ferrell as Mugatu ripping off that fat suit and some of the other visual gags). There’s a a lot more with Penelope Cruz, and a better glimpse at Benedict Cumberbatch with creepy long hair, in this trailer. So if you’ve excited to see more from this comedy, don’t skip this, it’s worth it just for a quick laugh or two. The kid yelling “what the hell is your problem?!” is my favorite part.

Here’s the full international trailer for Justin Theroux’s Zoolander 2, found directly on YouTube:

Watch: Gnarly Sneak Peek at the Next ‘Batman v Superman’ Trailer

Whoa. Superman looks pissed. Not everyone is going to be okay with this, but it’s also just a small tease of a much bigger story. During the latest episode of “Gotham”, Warner Bros debuted this very intense tease for the new trailer for Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The next new trailer arrives Wednesday night, and as much as we despise these teasers for the trailer, I couldn’t help sharing this one because it’s so damn provocative. The look on their faces… damn. I want to find out what they say next! Now they have my attention. Ben Affleck stars as Batman, Henry Cavill stars as Superman, Gal Gadot stars as Wonder Woman. More to come in the next few days once the latest trailer lands. Until then, take a peek.

Vintage ‘The Force Awakens’ Posters Are Connecting Past & Present

Just let it in! We’re down to the last few weeks. Over the weekend, Lucasfilm debuted three new posters for Star Wars: The Force Awakens that contain nothing but text. They are actually a specific throwback to the very same poster design utilized during the release of Star Wars: A New Hope on May 25th, 1977. For reference, we’ve included photos of the original posters at the bottom. We’ve seen so much imagery, so many attempts at Drew Struzan art, that it’s sometimes refreshing to see marketing that is based purely on our imagination. That’s what Star Wars is all about, capitalizing on our boundless imaginations and the joys that come with believing in The Force. It’s exciting to be around here for yet another big Star Wars release.

Here’s the vintage posters (3x) full-size for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, originally debuted by IGN:

Making Of Featurette on the Stop-Motion Animation in ‘Anomalisa’

It’s still so amazing that a couple of studios are actually making stop-motion animation feature films every year. The creative skill, patience and artistic vision that goes into creating a full-length stop-motion movie is so impressive, and it’s always interesting to get a glimpse at that process. Paramount has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the indie drama Anomalisa, the new Charlie Kaufman film co-directed by Duke Johnson, which is a stop-motion film that has been earning rave reviews at film festivals. “Anomalisa is 118,089 Frames of Film. Each Animator had a goal of 2 seconds (48 frames) of animation per day. See how it all came together…” I wish they showed more here, but they’re probably saving it for the DVD release.

Here’s the making of featurette for Charlie Kaufman & Duke Johnson’s Anomalisa, from Paramount:
